First Sonata for Flute and Piano (2004)
This three movement sonata for flute starts off with a fast tempo and lots of difficult passages. There is an emphasis on rhythm and chords with added notes. The second movement is steady, flowing, with beautiful lyrical lines. The final movement places heavy emphasis on rhythm with a lyrical section.
Theme and Variations for Clarinet Solo (2002-2003)

This piece follows the story about a cartoon Weasel whose car breaks down on the way to college and how she left her phone, license, and money for the tow truck at home. Memories of Appalachia (2000)
My second full orchestra piece and this one is my favorite. Lots of composers have written works using folk tunes, but I decided to add the 'real' Appalachian folk instruments. I was very fortunate to be educated in Bluegrass music and so, writing for banjo, hammer dulcimer, and fiddle was not too difficult of a task. Growing up near the Appalachian Mountains had spurred my interest in folk music and instruments. Work is still in progress.
Piano and Harp Duo (1999)
