How to Unblock a Program in Windows Vista
Have you ever tried to install a program or install updates and accidentally click the button that blocks that publisher? Well, one day, I got click happy and it happened to me.
Recently, I found myself frustrated each time I got a notification to install updates for Adobe products. Why was I frustrated? Every time I downloaded the updates and tried to install them, I got the following error:
User Account Control
This program has been blocked.
Your administrator set policy to block this program.
AdobeUpdaterInstallMgr.exe
Untrusted Publisher
I scoured the web trying to find the answer on how to unblock this program in Windows Vista SP2. No one really had a straight answer. That is, until I found a forum where some similar situation happened to someone else.
While I thought that the answer would be to change some settings in the User Account Control panel of Windows Vista, the answer was actually changing a setting in Microsoft IE8. What most people don’t know acai pure sale is that IE8 actually controls the way your Windows system trusts (or distrusts in this case) different websites and publishers.
So how did I unblock the program?
- Open Internet Explorer (in this case, v.8).
- Go to Tools > Internet Options
- In the pop-up window, choose Content tab.
- Under Certificates section, click the Publishers button.
- Click on the Untrusted Publishers tab.
- Highlight the program in the list that is blocked (i.e. Program that is listed in the error message.)
- Click the Remove button.
- Click the Close button on that screen then click Okay.
- Close Internet Explorer.
- You may want to restart your computer. I ended up having to do this and this solution worked great after I restarted.
FYI, I haven’t had any problems installing Adobe updates :)
